Find your Google listing: address first, then name
To set up your plate you need to find your business on Google. A simple trick speeds it all up: search by address first, then by name. We explain why it is far more effective.
When setting up your plate, you have to specify where it redirects: your Google review page. But first you need to find your business on Google… and depending on your activity, that is not always immediate. Here is a very simple trick that saves valuable time: search by address first, then by name.
The trap: searching by name
Instinctively, you type your business name into Google. That works well… when the name is unique. But as soon as it is a well-known brand or a chain, the name alone returns thousands of results spread across the country. Finding your specific outlet becomes tedious.
The method: address first
The address, on the other hand, is unique. By typing it first, you immediately narrow the search to your exact location. All that's left is to add the name to land right on the correct listing.
Example: you are looking for a fast-food chain. By name, you get thousands of results. By typing the address first, then the brand name, you land directly on the right business — the search is far faster.
In practice, step by step
- Open Google (or Google Maps).
- Type the full address of your business first.
- Then add the name of your business to refine.
- Open the matching listing, then get the link to your review page (share button, or the URL of the review page).
- Enter this link when activating your plate — or connect your Google Business Profile directly.
